NEUROREHABILITATION SERVICES IN FLORIDA

For individuals with a traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI) or other neurologic injury or diagnosis.

At NeuLife, our innovative techniques to restoring function and increasing independence can help individuals in multiple areas of daily and community living so the transition home is as successful as possible. It is traumatic for injured individuals and their family members to have to face the changes following a neurologic injury of any type. NeuLife’s unique ability to customize each Client Goal Plan and motivate each client toward the achievement of a number of clinical and personal goals—which is not typically promoted in rehabilitation programs—can result in a significantly higher level of success for each client. At NeuLife, each client’s schedule differs from the next which increases social interactions as well as physical activity levels. Our clients look forward to each day at NeuLife, as they know accomplishing their goals results in the most successful outcome possible.

Additionally, the client and family will discover that NeuLife provides a unique approach to therapeutic programming that captures many of the neurologic skill sets that are often compromised as a result of a TBI or SCI. Abilities such as fine and gross motors skills (buttoning a shirt, combing hair), attention and concentration (recall of information presented in various formats), balance and posture (recreational activities), etc. Therapeutic programming works in conjunction with the skilled therapies to increase functional abilities critical for recovery and in assessing the needs of an individual who has suffered a catastrophic injury. At NeuLife, our approach is holistic – the whole person is considered. The determination of specific needs can include the intensity of care, strengths and abilities, and level of supervision and assistance. Further, we measure physical function, equipment required and the effectiveness of current equipment and its utilization.

Because of its proximity to downtown Mount Dora, it is easier to gauge community access abilities, transportation needs, cognitive and behavioral function, and much more, depending on each individual. Our multidisciplinary team will provide care, assistance and therapies along with teaching and retraining as recommended during our evaluation and under physician’s orders. The length of stay for individuals being considered for participation is entirely dependent on specific needs and overall presentation.

“Activities of daily living” (ADLs) is a term that becomes well known to an individual who is seeking supported living services to maintain or regain as much independence as possible following a catastrophic injury or catastrophic diagnoses. These are activities most of us do every day without even thinking. When an individual is recovering from a catastrophic injury, he or she often finds the need to really think about each task. There are six basic ADLs: eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring (walking) and continence. An individual’s ability to perform ADLs is important when determining the specific care the individual needs.

NeuLife’s philosophy is that healing, wellness and personal fulfillment are best accomplished in a positive and uplifting therapeutic environment where caring staff encourage, assist and support each client so he or she may achieve specific goals. NeuLife believes personal fulfillment is an equally important goal as increasing function and independence.
