Enjoying life can be extremely challenging for individuals experiencing behavioral difficulties resulting from a brain injury or other catastrophic injury or diagnosis. NeuLife professionals have a proven record of success working with individuals experiencing these difficulties by incorporating a high degree of activities of specific interest into each client-tailored Goal Plan for those clients experiencing behavioral challenges. Utilizing our holistic approach, a comprehensive evaluation is conducted by our Board Certified Behavior Analyst using applied behavior analysis guidelines.
Individuals experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges either shortly after the injury or even years later can benefit from working with our experienced staff. NeuLife Residential Post-Acute Programs provide a positive reinforcing philosophy to individuals with behavioral difficulties resulting from TBI. We offer a new and refreshing approach and activities designed to capture the interests of the clients we serve from across the country.
Each client plays a vital role in the development of his or her Goal Plan and shares what help he or she believes is needed to provide needed guidance and support. Through consistent application and practice of individually designed protocols, behavioral shaping is implemented through a positive reinforcement approach. Cognitive support services, counseling and psychology services, as well as a wide range of specialized services and supports are seamlessly designed into each Client Goal Plan along with each client’s personal goals and preferences. Our clients look forward to each day at NeuLife, as they know accomplishing their goals results in the most successful outcome possible.
Individual education and training uses cognitive-based approaches to work toward fulfilling each Client Care Plan, created to help each of our clients reach a goal of the highest level of independence possible NeuLife clients are able to discuss concerns and progress toward independence and achievements. Areas in which client and family education and training can assist the client are expression of feelings, setting achievable daily goals and coping with emotions including frustration, sadness and anxiety. Self esteem and self identity can also be addressed during a therapeutic session, discussing what an individual can and cannot do post injury. Sometimes with TBI, SCI or other catastrophic injuries, there are feelings of guilt on the part of the client or family. Without the opportunity to work through these feelings and others, the recovery can slow. We’ve all heard, “You need to talk it out.” Participating in these meetings can prove to be very valuable.
NeuLife is an innovative, fully accessible licensed 54-bed residential post-acute program situated on 43 acres near downtown Mount Dora, Florida, where individuals with catastrophic injuries can enjoy recreational outings and become productive members of the community. NeuLife’s multidisciplinary team tailors plans to meet the specific needs and goals of each client served. NeuLife serves adults ages 18 and over. Individuals referred to NeuLife may stay for any established period of time, whether for short-term, long-term or respite care.
All services outlined for each individual are included in an all-inclusive comprehensive per diem.
